To all competitors:
Thank you for coming along to compete or support your respective clubs at the Ironbridge Weekend Regatta.
I’m know some of you will be disappointed with the termination of racing on Sunday, but this was on safety grounds.
Localised rain across Shropshire over the weekend meant the river had risen an unprecidented five feet over 18 hours. The increasing levels of debris this volume of water picked up and sent down the course during Sunday made it impossible to do anything but stop racing.
Thankfully, our members, umpires and safety personnel worked effectively together to safely boat off all competitors at that time.
I’m sorry this had an effect on a number of afternoon division events and do hope you come along and race here next year.

Yesterday saw our annual Pub and Club Regatta, where crews completely new to the sport train over 4 water sessions to compete against one another.
The day was a huge success and despite the changeable weather drew crowds of family and friends to watch some brilliant racing. The atmosphere was jubilant as crews all cheered each other on, it was a delight to see a range of fancy dress outfits (including some very high heels).
A big thanks to all the crews who took part, their supporters and our club members who helped make the day a resounding success. We hope to see many of you at the club for our new members meeting Tuesday 10th May at 6pm in the club bar.
